Nick has recently been competing in the British Elite National Mountain Bike Series, the fourth round at Dalby forrest in North Yorkshire. After a good start to the race, an early enforced crash lost him some places and he went into the first section of trees towards the back of the pack. Fortunately Nick kept his head and just rode at his own pace, picking riders off on the hilly 6km course. After lap one he was just outside the top ten in a small group of four riders. This soon split up on one of the climbs and Nick hung on to one of the stronger riders who had also been caught up in the crash. They pulled back a few more places and by the last lap it was down to them going for 10th. Nick got his head down and went full gas to the finish and came away with his best result this year in 10th and another Commonwealth Games standard.

Tom Gandy was unable to be considered for selection into the Island Team for the Gotland Island Games, due to a clash with areguably the most important amateur golf competion in the calendar the Amateur Championshiop at the Royal St Georges Golf Club, Kent. In tough conditions, both weather and fellow players, Tom shot a fantastic 68, -4 par on the Princes Course, followed up by a 74 +4 on the main course, making his total level par. Agonisingly for Tom he missed the cut by 1 shot and as you can see by the leaderboard was unlucky not to progress.
