Isle of Man Golf and Tower Insurance are pleased to announce a 3-year partnership to support senior golf in the Isle of Man.

Until this year, IOM Golf’s Senior County Championship has been a men's event but, for the first time, the 2018 competition will be a joint championship with both male and female Senior County Champions declared. This follows England Golf's decision to extend their County Champion of Champions events to include women's Senior County Champions this year.

The IOM Golf event is open to players aged 50 and over and is scheduled to be held at Castletown on Sunday 12th August. The champions on the day will be eligible to enter the subsequent England Golf events on 8th and 9th September for women and the 15th and 16th September for men. The women's weekend will be at Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire and will include events for the Junior Girls County Champions, the County Champions and the Senior County Champions. The men and boys will travel the following weekend to Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire for the same range of events and IOM Golf is hoping to send a full complement of champions to each competition.

“Naturally, we are delighted that Tower Insurance have agreed to sponsor our Senior County Championships” said IOM Golf President, Dee Lewis. “Furthermore, the commitment for 3 years of generous support from this valued partner will ensure that the joint event gets off to a flying start. Gross scores will count for the main championships, but nett prizes will also feature in a series of age groups so I urge all the Island’s golfers of a certain age, male and female, to enter this prestigious event.”
