45 children from the Ballacottier Primary School choir, led by Music Teacher Katie Lawrence, headed to the Welsh town of Llangollen to compete in the International Music Eisteddfod held between 3rd and 8th of July.

Ballacottier Choir on Stage in Llangollen

As a keen sponsor of the arts, the decision to support the choir was easy for Tower Insurance. Not only was it a great opportunity for these young people to experience the competition and a chance for them to travel away, but it was great for the Isle of Man to be represented against choirs from around the world.

Emmet McQuillan, Managing Director of Tower Insurance added, “The Choir really did the Island proud finishing an amazing 4th overall out of 18 choirs despite being the youngest by some margin. This is a very prestigious event and just getting to compete is an achievement but to finish 4th is truly outstanding.”

Tower Insurance, Culture Vannin and a number of local companies provided sponsorship to help with the trip and expenses, including the team hoodies.
